![]() So which would you choose and why? I'm sort of not 100% convinced that an off the shelf ECU map is safe or smart, but im pretty sure it is. Also, if I ever want to race it or make the most power, the power commander is the best. The tuner was said that it takes a lot of time to complete this tune and they they custom map the bike for perfect fueling at every step. He offered me their "Power commander package," which includes the power commander, the install, and a custom tune on a dyno. The guy I was talking to on the phone was really pushing for me to choose the power commander option. They said they use ECU unleashed and they can flash in a map that should work well enough for around $350. It sounds so much better and so much louder, but I defintely hear some backfiring when I cut the throttle. I haven't ridden the bike yet, but I did run it to hear the new exhaust. So that means I no longer have a cat and I disconnected my servo cables. I just installed the Yoshimura Alpha T Race. I am lucky to have a shop close by that has a dyno and can also flash my ECU, but I am still learning the differences and wanted to hear from you guys which one you would choose. I am having a little trouble deciding which to do with. Warranty is NOT cut and dry dealers can make decisions and area service managers can make decisions on a case by case basis. Ducati are a huge company, (Audi) have lots of money and despite some beliefs, do actually care about their customers and their reputation. Highly likely they will find an issue that has nothing to do with the tune or the exhaust and as you/they said, they will cover the cost. If you disagree with their findings has an independent engineer take a look. Pay the $2k to have it torn down, (you can’t just sit on it as it is) and be present when the tech opens up the engine. There is no way a bad tune would bugger a bearing - lack of oil supply will do that. If DNA said no, (who told them you had aftermarket parts?) write to Ducati in Italy. If it was the dealer, talk to the area service manager at DNA. The way I see it, (having worked as a service manager for Ducati in the past) you’re not out of options! Did the dealer refuse the warranty or Ducati North America? Some dealers don’t like warranty work because it doesn’t pay as well as customers. If you buy new and have a warranty your safest bet is to have all work done at the dealer until you no longer have coverage. I do not even recommend customers bring me bikes in warranty just because ANY reason they have to get out of a repair most will take. Some care and some do not ,but often the manufacturer is relying on their dealers to determine who and what gets covered with the manufacturer having final say. It is NOT uncommon for modifications to void warranties and this is with all brands, buying a pimped out bike is usually covered by the dealers willingness to cover their customer. I would bet the fine print on the reflash says no warranty and race use only etc. If the answer to all the above it yes then you may have something about the dealer. Ultimately it was my decision but had I known this would void my warranty I would have at least thought twice about it.īe VERY careful if you plan to flash your ECU while under warranty. Bad advice given and I was stupid to take that advise. When I asked Joe about taking my bike to Detroit and having him do the work he said, OK, when I asked if he can give me some break on the price because this was caused by the tune he recommended he said no, sorry. That price is between 1700-2000 just to take it apart. Ducati said if I pay to take the motor apart and they can see something that was there fault they would pay. I called Joe, he was very nice but that was not getting my bike fixed. I called Ducati and they said sorry your out of luck. Ducati will NOT warranty it or ever open the motor to see what the problem is because I have a ECU flash. There is copper in the oil, bearing failure. I call Ducati in ATL (my home) and take it in. What do I know.ġ0 months later check oil light comes on. ![]() He said you need to do a tune so the bike will not run lean with the pipe. They did refund my money for the power commander, and Joe recommend Brent flash tune. ![]() They replaced the power commander (I removed and re-installed it) same. 300 miles later the bike was cutting out. Sure, Joe in service worked for Ducati, how can this go wrong. They offered an Arrow exhaust and dyno tune (power commander). I paid full price, they suggested the akrapovic aftermarket pipe for 6K I said no thanks. I went to Detroit and found the bike I have been looking for 2022 V2.
